Sein Name geht auf die kleine Quelle zurück, aus der Ardbeg sein Wasser bezieht. „Uigeadail“, ein gälischer Begriff, bedeutet so viel wie „mystischer Ort“ und verweist auf die ursprüngliche Bezeichnung dieser Wasserquelle. Schon beim Einschenken begeistert der Whisky mit seiner natürlich wirkenden Farbe – ein tiefes, rotgoldenes Bernstein.
Noch bevor man das Glas hebt, steigt einem eine markante Rauchwolke entgegen: dichter, erdiger Torfrauch, wie man ihn von Ardbeg kennt. Doch der Uigeadail überrascht darüber hinaus mit einer bemerkenswerten Tiefe und Komplexität. Neben der intensiven Rauchnote prägen vor allem spanische Sherryfässer den Charakter dieses Islay-Whiskys. Sie verleihen ihm opulente, fruchtbetonte Nuancen – erinnert an dunkle Johannisbeeren, eingekochte Erdbeeren und saftige Rosinen.
